7 Bible Verses for Rejection (When You Feel Rejected & Unwanted)

Introduction

If you’re searching for Bible verses for rejection, these scriptures will remind you that:

You are chosen, accepted and deeply loved.

Rejection can wound deeply.

It can make you question your worth… your place… even your identity.

But God’s love is not like human acceptance.
It doesn’t shift. It doesn’t withdraw, and it doesn’t fail.

God’s love is steadfast and unconditional. When people turn away, God draws you closer.

What Does the Bible Say About Rejection?

Psalm 118:22–23: “The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone; the Lord has done this…”  What others discard, God can turn into the foundation of something glorious. Rejection doesn’t disqualify you — it can be part of what God is using to position you.

Here are 7 Bible verses for when feelings of rejection set in…

  1. Psalm 27:10:

“Though my father and mother forsake me, the Lord will receive me.”

Even if our closest relationships fail, God’s arms are always open to welcome us.

  1. 1 Peter 2:9

“But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.”

Even when you feel rejected by others, remember that God forever treasures you. Called His own to shine with the warmth and brilliance of His love

  1. Isaiah 53:3–4:

“He was despised and rejected by mankind… Surely he took up our pain and bore our suffering.”

Jesus Himself understands rejection. Not from a distance — but through experience. He carries your pain and meets you in it.

  1. Romans 8:38-39:

“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

No rejection, human or spiritual, can sever the bond of His love. His love is constant, even when people are not.

  1. Psalm 139:13–14

“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.”

Your worth is not determined by who accepts you. It is shaped by the Creator who delights in the unique way He has crafted you. You are not overlooked. You are intentionally made.

  1. John 6:37

“All those the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away.”

When you come to Jesus, burdened by hurt and shame, He welcomes you without hesitation and will never turn you away. You don’t have to earn your place with Him.

  1. Jeremiah 31:3:

“I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness.”

God’s love is not temporary. It outlives every human acceptance or rejection. It existed before rejection touched your life…and it will remain long after.

REMEMBER: Rejection is a wound, but it is not your identity. In Christ, you are wanted, welcomed, and woven irrevocably into His family.

When the verses feel true… but your mind still feels heavy

Reading and knowing the truth is impactful.

However, thoughts may not change right away.

Journaling can assist in this process. Putting your thoughts on paper helps slow your mind, understand what’s truly happening inside, and gently replace false beliefs with God’s truth.

It creates space not only for thinking but also for processing, reflecting, and realigning.

Prayer

Heavenly Father,

You are my refuge, El-Roi – the God who sees me, my Creator and loving Father.
Thank You that I am fearfully and wonderfully made, known deeply and loved completely.

Your Word assures me that You will never leave nor forsake me, so I run to You, arms open, heart weary.
When the sting of rejection strikes, remind me that I am fully accepted in You. Where the world turns away, You draw me near.
Help me release every lie that rejection has planted, and fill that space with the unshakable truth of Your love.

I refuse to be defined by the world’s opinions; I stand in the identity You’ve spoken over me. I am who You say I am.

In Jesus’s name, Amen.
